Bahrain's Dino Park - 2019

December 23, 2019 Julia Inserro

Bahrain is full of fun things for kids to do. The difficult part can be finding out information about them. If it’s not through word-of-mouth from another mom, then I tend to find out about most events because I pass a billboard on the highway.

The latest adventure was spotting the large billboards with a T.rex advertising Bahrain’s Dino Park. The billboard gave very little information other than its location, at Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park, and dates of December 2019 through March 2020.

Even digging around online proved fruitless. I took the kids to Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park in mid November to see what we could learn. We saw some dinosaur statues through the fence but no real indication of what the park would be like.

Fast forward to December and moms were all abuzz on Facebook. Several people tried to go at the beginning of December, but it still wasn’t open. Then finally, around mid December there was success! And we learned one key factor. The park didn’t open until 4 PM every day. Always good to know.

Feeling curious, and up for a little adventure on a Thursday, we piled the kids in the car and headed out.

Also, bundle up. It’s right on the water and the winds at night make it quite cold.

I have no idea what inspired the idea for the Dino Park, but I’m glad someone followed through. We had kids from 5 to 9 years old and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. Many of the rides were small enough and slow enough that even the littles could ride alone.

In addition to the rides, there were animatronic dinosaurs everywhere and the carnival games guaranteed that everyone went home with a plastic toy. It was a lot of fun for everyone and I can see us enjoying this a few more times before it leaves in March.

So, grab a neighbor and check it out yourself. And as always, remember to keep watching the billboards and remain curious.
